Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco: Workshop

About the LJYE Workshop

In the fall of 2006 ensemble Directors John Calloway, Sylvia Ramirez, and Arturo Riera created the LJYE Workshop. The goal of the Workshop is to teach intermediate players the skills they need to perform in the advanced Ensemble. The Workshop provides a low pressure environment where students gain the fundamentals of Latin jazz while experiencing ensemble playing, soloing and improvising.

The LJYE Workshop performs at Family Fest 2007: Julianna Cressman, violin; Canek Martinez, violin; Cecilia Pena-Govea, trumpet and vocals; Jaquez Jordan, flute; Lawrence McDonald, drumset; Nico Scolieri, flute; Ahkeel
Mestayer, congas; Cecilia Sweet-Coll, piano; Julie Mendoza, vocals; Elias Santos, bass; plus special guests from the advanced group Natalie Cressman, trombone and vocals; Nour Moussa, vocals and percussion; David Vazquez, timbales, Nick Rives, bass.
